About the Minor

The WEST minor, like the major, emphasizes intersectionality, cultural responsiveness, critical thinking, creativity, community engagement, and global awareness. Students take the core course Introduction to Social Justice Studies plus 15 credits of WEST electives to explore their interests.

Focus of Study

The WEST minor allows students to focus on any combination of interests from among our course offerings, recognizing that all our courses highlight intersectionalities and prepare students to engage critically with questions of inequality and social justice.

Program Requirements

The Minor in WEST requires students to complete WEST 1010 Introduction to Social Justice Studies plus 15 credit hours of electives, of which at least 9 credit hours must be from upper-division coures. At least 9 credit hours must be completed while registered at UCCS, and students must receive a grade of C or above in each course counted toward the minor.
